Kisses for You I is part of my LIPS oil on canvas series.

I’m really fascinated with lips. If it isn’t obvious enough, I really regard my lips as my prized asset, next to my “killer-daw” smile…(I have learned to appreciate people telling me to smile a lot because they say I’ve got IT) (Flattering indeed!)

(Naku pag nabasa to ng other half ko, sasabihin nun, “Pagsa-yama!” hahhaha!!! That’s “pagsa-yabang” in Batangueno term for you)

Lip balms are my bestfriend. I’d feel nude without it. I am most confident when my lips are soft and luscious…sometimes I would joke around and tell my other half it’s good enough to eat….hahaha!

Anyway, as I was letting this piece of art out to dry after grueling hours of painting, a BIG idea just popped into mind: why not give my painting some realistic side to it? Why not?

So there I was with this BIG idea…and all of a sudden dipped my brush to the red paint and started applying it to my own lips as if it was lipstick!

I know it sounds crazy, but I guess the artist-crazy side of me got in the way. There and then, I gave my still wet canvas a big smooch! And another! And another one…..until I came up with 8 kissmarks (8 being a lucky number).

I was left with a huge blob of blue and white paint on my nose and chin…and a big pout of red, oily lips……and that was the most exhilarating feeling ever!

Needless to say, this art piece is one collector’s item – with real kiss marks to boot!
