As mentioned in my previous post, I have encountered several instances in my life when the Lord and his guardian angel assigned to me took over.
Yes. I have been saved many times.
Note: This is not to focus on the tragedies or unfortunate incidents/accidents, but rather to highlight the Lord’s Saving Grace.
One time, in 2000, I was on my to work in the Ortigas Business District (my first job!). Coming from the Boni area, I usually walk towards Shangri-La Edsa from EDSA crossing.
When I was about to cross, (of course during a red stoplight for the cars and a green go for pedestrians), I heard screeching sounds and saw a cab making its way towards where I was about to cross. It’s obvious it was having some kind of trouble with its breaks.
And you know where I was? I was actually standing on the pavement where a giant post of the MRT is actually behind me.
I didn’t know what came into me. I can see the cab coming towards me, the driver seems so scared now because the car was swerving from left to right, making its passengers (a mom and her little boy) all shuffled inside.
What makes matters worse was that, I cannot seem to move! I felt like a piece of statue infront of that big MRT post. Most of the people I was with while crossing had already gone to the other side. I know there and then I was trapped!
I know I prayed that moment. I called on to my guardian angel, prayed to the Lord to help me get out of my dilemma. But it was all in my head. I was speechless, numb at that point that nothing seems to come out of my mouth.
I can see the cab now coming towards me……
And then…..
It came to a sudden halt upon bumping into the pavement where I was standing. Yes. EXACTLY where I was standing.
If that car had the nerve to hit the pavement just a notch stronger, I know I’d be crushed in between the car and the MRT post.
But it didn’t! It stopped right there and then!
Although I looked so pale and my knees were wobbly I thought I was going to faint, I had the courage to move to one side and see if the driver and the passengers were alright.
One man had the nerve to tell me this, “Muntik ka na don ah!” (read: You were almost hit there!). I was irritated because no one even bothered to ask if I was alright!
But then again, the important thing was that I was okay. Alive. Breathing. Not a single scratch. All in one piece. Thanks to my guardian angel and to Him.
The driver was okay, as well as the mom and her kid, just shaken like me…
(Oh, by the way, since my knees were still all wobbly, I took a cab to my office and got all the sympathy I needed from my officemates.) What a way to start the day!

I just wrote a post today about how miracles come not as expect. Glad everything was ok!

That only shows that God really guide us wherever we go. Para sa mga taong may mabubuti ang kalooban ay siyang pinagpapala. I’ve been there too. Many times. That’s why no matter how bad my life is, i never ever forget to talk to the Lord. An inspiring story. God bless Tintin.
Hi Tin… I can relate as well… I have been through a lot of near death mishaps and yet here I am, still breathing…
As much as we thank the Lord for all his saving grace… much praise should be given to Him as well especially during times when things aren’t looking too well.
It is easy to thank and praise the Lord during times of joy… It is much much harder to praise Him when circumstances are not favorable… it is during these opportunities that we are tested all the more… wherein we can truly prove how strong our faith is… by continuing to praise and trust His divine will…
…not only in times when we come out unscathed.
